Bobby Shew's latest model - this one has been owned and played by Yamaha Artist, Gianni Marinucci. The 8210Z is the latest incarnation of the Bobby Shew model Yamaha trumpet. The sound is even bigger and warmer than it's predecessor model.
Probably the most notable change is the bell. The 8310Z utilizes a new bell-making process. The seam has been moved to the side, the wall thickness tapers towards the flare, and the small bell bead is rounded on one side and flat on the other. The improvement in sound is dramatic-the tone is rich and full with a solid core, it projects like a laser beam and is easier to hear in the section. You really have to hear it to appreciate the difference.
Several elements of the new 8310Z are borrowed from the Xeno series, including leadpipe, braces, water keys and valve caps. While retaining the stepped-bore and the efficient, responsive characteristics of the 6310Z, the 8310Z feels more open and easier to blow. The notes slot easily and the high register just sings, yet there is a surprising amount of latitude, the horn doesn’t fight you. It feels great, right from the outset.
This horn plays like a new horn. there are very slight blemishes on the bell section near the valve stacks, but apart from this, the trumpet is in excellent condition. Valve compression and slides are perfect. Buy now $1800

Here is a famous King Silver Flair trumpet - a classic design and model for over 30 years. It features a seamless bell for even vibration and response, good projection and a 1st valve slide trigger for easy intonation (and fun!). This is a .462 large bore horn that would suit a player wanting a wider spread of sound but without moving to a dedicated classical horn. This horn was purchased new by us in 2005 and has been used only as a display instrument. This trumpet will have a full new warranty even though you will buy it very cheaply. Buy now $1350.
Here is a secondhand Schagerl trumpet for a very reasonable price. It has certainly been used as you can see from the pics. There is very minor plating wear on the bell near the valves, and very small scratches and marks in a few places - no more than you would expect from a trumpet that has been played for a year or a bit more. Valves have very good compression and the slides are free and easy. This horn is in overall good to very good condition - this is a great opportunity for an intermediate to advancing level player to own a good horn at a reasonable price. Buy now $950.
This is a very special Bach Strad 37 trumpet - Extensively Master hand engraved in NYC. This is a pre strike - 2003 production Bach (596xxx) which places it well before the notorious strike. In every respect, this is an absolutely beautiful horn. It plays as you would expect of an almost un-played 2003 Bach - slots are great, compression is excellent, slides are free and smooth and the sound is awesome. Cosmetically 95+% and the pics show this. We would never say 100% even with a new horn. We cannot find any evidence of any pings, dings, dents or any repair work having been done.
If you had this amazing hand engraving done now, the cost would be probably about $1200-$1500 just for the engraving alone. Even then, you would first have to find a really great playing Bach Strad to contemplate making into a great playing work of art, and you would have to have total confidence in the art engraver - tough call!
People will notice you when you play this horn - it just stands out from the crowd. For shipping to USA, Canada, Europe etc please contact us for a shipping quote. Otherwise, remember, there is only ONE of this trumpet, not a wall full of them. BUY NOW $2500 with complete confidence and we will give you a 12 month warranty at no extra cost.

Now, here is a piece of Australia's brass band heritage. This lovely 1959 year Boosey & Hawkes Imperial soprano cornet was the highest quality Eb soprano cornet made at that time in England for brass band use. This B&H Imperial is finished in the typical frosted silver plated finish which is way easier to keep looking good than the polished silver version. Apart from a small ding in the 2nd valve "slide" there are no visible dents or dings that we can see. The 3rd valve top is missing however there must be a spare lurking in a band cupboard around the country somewhere. Most Boosey & Hawkes Imperial soprano cornets will have been more than well used and in pretty bad shape by now. This one is an exception - it really has not seen the huge amounts of playing that most of these Imperial cornets have. For a really nice soprano cornet that will not break the bank - you cannot go wrong with this one. Was $750 - But it now $600
This is an example one of the earliest Yamaha rose brass professional trumpets bought into Australia. We remember around 1969 when we saw this model starting to surface in small numbers here. It is difficult to date the exact year of this Yamaha professional trumpet as Yamaha's serial numbers tended to jump around a bit, back then. With a serial number of #164xx, this trumpet sounds just like we remember the Yamaha YTR634 trumpets did when they were new - sweet sound with a nice mix of clarity. The lacquer on this horn is around 70% and shows a fair amount of pitting on the bell section, valve casings and main elbow. There are two slight pings on the bell of this Yamaha trumpet. The 3rd valve has been replaced and works just fine like the others although it is not a matching valve. Compression is at the level you would expect for a Yamaha professional trumpet of this age - around 65-70%. The valves are a little noisy but work fine - we have ultrasonic cleaned them since the pics were taken. The slides are free and operate well. This is a really rare piece of Yamaha professional trumpet history. If you want a cheap and reliable old Yamaha then this trumpet may be the one you have been looking for. Test play at The Music Place Melbourne or simply - Was $900 - Buy now $549
Rare and great playing Olds C Trumpet. If you are a Bb trumpet player and need (or want) a reasonably priced professional C trumpet then this treasure is for you. For the advancing student this trumpet is a really great option rather than spending lots and lots on a new model. This 1972 production #871XXX was owned by one of The Music Place staff and he has this to say about it: "It was a sad day when F.E. Olds factory ceased production in 1979 and 10 years supply of parts and tooling were sold off at auction. I played an Olds Recording trumpet all through Uni and in many settings from orchestral to commercial to TV. This Olds C trumpet plays like all the "real" F.E. Olds made Olds trumpets - very sweetly." It has a nice body of sound, centres easily, locks in well and the tuning is good which is not always the case with all other brands and models of C trumpets." Olds were historically one of the most desired makers of professional trumpets and trombones for decades and decades. This professional trumpet has @85% silver plate intact. There is normal plating wear on the 1st and 3rd valve casings where the hands contact the casings. All valves are smooth and compression is very good. The slides are all free and smooth. There is a very slight compression of the bell stay (almost un-noticable) which can be corrected if required. Overall though, this is a very nice C trumpet. The new owner of this F.E. Olds Custom C trumpet will be a happy player indeed. Was $1800 - Buy now $1200
This 1980 Vincent Bach model 43 trumpet is a really great playing Bach. The model 43 is well known as the industry standard lead horn. With it's lightweight bell, this Bach 43 trumpet really sizzles!. It is really hard to find a 1980's vintage Bach 43 trumpet - especially one that is in this great playing condition. The valves have very good compression and are smooth. The slides are free and easy as you can see from the pics. This is not a mint Bach trumpet cosmetically - from the pics you will see some marks inside the bell and some minor surface ripples along the bell. It has probably had some very minor pings during it's life however any repair work has been done very nicely. There are definitely no major dents or dings in this horn and there is nothing that affects it's playing quality.
Having said that - this Bach 43 trumpet really plays beautifully. It is really easy on airflow like all the earlier Bach 43 trumpets. It is also really easy to soar up high into the double F's and beyond but also has a very even response and tone throughout the whole range. This Bach trumpet would suit a pro player or a student that really wants to project a focussed lead sound. You can see from the pics that this is a very rare and reliable Bach 43. You will play this one for many, many years without any trouble. We will be happy to include The Music Place 12 months warranty on this Bach trumpet - no problem whatsoever. And the price? .... you would expect to pay over $3000 AUD for this horn new - and not be anywhere near as impressed with a new Bach 43 as you would with this one. For $1950 buy it now you just simply cannot go wrong! Test play or just buy it before someone else does! - The Music Place South Melbourne store.
Bach 180-37S custom hand engraved. Wow! this is a really special trumpet - exquisitely and extensively hand engraved in USA by a very old and famous master engraver. Check the pictures - even then, they don't even do complete justice to the artwork. This is a model 37 bell with standard lead pipe. Serial number #438XXX is a 1995 made horn - desirable year of manufacture. The valves have excellent compression, slides are smooth and free. We have also added mother of pearl valve caps which can be changed back to standard easily if required. This trumpet plays really, really well and slots great. It has a slightly darker sound than most 37S's - a really nice tone but at higher volumes and in the higher end has a really nice core to the sound. A really versatile horn that is very collectable and beautiful to look at and play. This is a real work of art and is a horn that you would treasure for a lifetime.
Bach 180-37S - Silver plated Stradivarius in superb condition. Serial number 505XXX places this in the really desirable year of early 1999 manufacture (before the acquisition of UMI). This Strad plays absolutely beautifully as you would expect of a horn in almost mint condition. Silver plate is 99.9% (dare I say 100%) intact, the slides are free, smooth and easy and the valves have excellent compression. There are a few very minor pings on the bell near the rim - virtually un-noticable. There are also a few very minor scratches which you probably won't be able to see in the pics because they are so small. There is no evidence of any repair work and I am sure that this trumpet has not seen a lot of playing at all. The deluxe Bach case is in almost perfect condition except for a slight "cut" mark on the second handle. This has been repaired and should not be any concern. Overall, this is a really fantastic instrument. We would be happy to 24ct gold plate the valve caps and tops at no extra cost to make this into a very special looking Strad if required (normally $300 extra)
Bach Strad 180-37S in amazing condition. Amazing hand engraving to 70% of bell section. The engraving is incredibly fine, artistic and extensive - undertaken by another master engraver in New York. I cannot find any dings, dents, scuff marks or anything - almost mint. Valves are excellent, compression is excellent, slides are excellent. This is a #580XXX - late 2002 pre-strike Bach Strad that looks amazing and plays really easily and has all of the things that Bach is famous for - versatile, reliable and benchmarking workhorse. But, this one looks like a beautiful and unique musical instrument treasure. If you are an advancing student or pro player - you can't go past this one!
Bach 37G Gold brass bell - silver plated #632XXX which dates around late 2004 manufacture. This horn plays really smoothly. Being a gold brass bell model, it has a slightly darker, warmer sound than a standard Strad. If you mainly playing orchestral work, then this trumpet could well be for you. Valves and slides are near new and compression is perfect. There are minor marks on the bell - it looks like the bell has had repair work done however the work has been completed very well. There are no major dents or anything that would be of concern for the long life of this trumpet. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us" - of course you get our 12 month warranty included at no extra charge!
Bach 37 Stradivarius gold laquered. serial 526XXX which places this as 2002 production. This horn plays great and is free and true over the range. The valves and slides are smooth and free. We will be refinishing the slides and valves before sale so that they are presented nice and shiny. Valve compression is excellent. This trumpet was played for a couple of years and has been stored since. There are slight dings (not dents) mainly on the bell which we will remove as far as possible prior to sale if required. There is minor lacquer wear in the usual places - 3rd valve and under bell where 1st finger grips, 3rd and 2nd valve slide elbows, mouthpiece receiver and bell section collar at 1st valve junction. All these are cosmetic only and will not affect the performance of this trumpet.
This secondhand James Morrison trumpet has a fantastic pedigree. This Yamaha trumpet was purchased new by Bob Venier - one of Australia's most famous trumpet players. You will hear him on Little River Band's award winning "Reminiscing" and will probably have heard him on many other recordings or in television bands and orchestras. This Yamaha James Morrison trumpet is in really good condition. The valves have excellent compression and the slides are all smooth and fast. There are a number of small lacquer marks - mainly on the bell section - very common for a Yamaha trumpet that has been played professionally. This Yamaha trumpet was traded in, on a Temby Custom Vintage model trumpet that David Temby personally customised to suit Bob Venier. If you want a Yamaha James Morrison trumpet then you wont find better than this - it plays well and has a really nice history attached to it. Buy now $1250

This Bach Stradivarius model 37 trumpet was made in 1965 - which places this Bach as an early Elkhart production. The Bach factory moved from New York to Elkhart in 1963. This Bach trumpet has strong links and characteristics of the famous (and now very expensive) Bach Mt Vernon trumpets. You can see from the pics that the valve numbers all match. The valves are all smooth and are not as tight as they would have been when new. The valves are still very fast and work perfectly. The valve caps and finger tops have been gold plated at some stage which gives this Bach model 37 trumpet a nice cosmetic difference. All slides work fine. The 3rd valve slide and main tuning slide are very smooth. The 1st valve slide is 90% smooth. Finish is as you can see in the pics. There is plating wear in the usual spots. There are no places where the brass has worn through so there is no real effect apart from cosmetically. There are numerous small pings and a few minor ripples here and there. This horn has been played and not stored under a bed all it's life. This is a 45 year old professional Bach trumpet that looks like it has "been around the block" but is a real player.
The sound of this Bach Stradivarius trumpet is as you would expect from an early Elkhart Bach trumpet. There is plenty of warmth across the range but also lots of projection when you need it when playing at higher volumes or pushing out lead lines. This Bach trumpet has a nice mix of colours of tone mixed with very nice clarity. Intonation is good and slots are fine - although not as tight as some modern Bach trumpets. All in all, this is a 1965 made Vincent Bach Stradivarius trumpet that has seen a lot of playing time but still has plenty of life left in it. You will not be disappointed if you buy it now $1600
