Bach 180-37S serial number 444XX

Very Early Elkhart

This Bach Stradivarius model 37 trumpet was made in 1965 - which places this Bach as an early Elkhart production. The Bach factory moved from New York to Elkhart in 1963. This Bach trumpet has strong links and characteristics of the famous (and now very expensive) Bach Mt Vernon trumpets. You can see from the pics that the valve numbers all match. The valves are all smooth and are not as tight as they would have been when new. The valves are still very fast and work perfectly. The valve caps and finger tops have been gold plated at some stage which gives this Bach model 37 trumpet a nice cosmetic difference. All slides work fine. The 3rd valve slide and main tuning slide are very smooth. The 1st valve slide is 90% smooth. Finish is as you can see in the pics. There is plating wear in the usual spots. There are no places where the brass has worn through so there is no real effect apart from cosmetically. There are numerous small pings and a few minor ripples here and there. This horn has been played and not stored under a bed all it's life. This is a 45 year old professional Bach trumpet that looks like it has "been around the block" but is a real player.

The sound of this Bach Stradivarius trumpet is as you would expect from an early Elkhart Bach trumpet. There is plenty of warmth across the range but also lots of projection when you need it when playing at higher volumes or pushing out lead lines. This Bach trumpet has a nice mix of colours of tone mixed with very nice clarity. Intonation is good and slots are fine - although not as tight as some modern Bach trumpets. All in all, this is a 1965 made Vincent Bach Stradivarius trumpet that has seen a lot of playing time but still has plenty of life left in it. You will not be disappointed if you buy it now $1600

Bach 180-43 serial number 185XXX

This 1980 Vincent Bach model 43 trumpet is a really great playing Bach. The model 43 is well known as the industry standard lead horn. With it's lightweight bell, this Bach 43 trumpet really sizzles!. It is really hard to find a 1980's vintage Bach 43 trumpet - especially one that is in this great playing condition. The valves have very good compression and are smooth. The slides are free and easy as you can see from the pics. This is not a mint Bach trumpet cosmetically - from the pics you will see some marks inside the bell and some minor surface ripples along the bell. It has probably had some very minor pings during it's life however any repair work has been done very nicely. There are definitely no major dents or dings in this horn and there is nothing that affects it's playing quality.

Having said that - this Bach 43 trumpet really plays beautifully. It is really easy on airflow like all the earlier Bach 43 trumpets. It is also really easy to soar up high into the double F's and beyond but also has a very even response and tone throughout the whole range. This Bach trumpet would suit a pro player or a student that really wants to project a focussed lead sound. You can see from the pics that this is a very rare and reliable Bach 43. You will play this one for many, many years without any trouble. We will be happy to include The Music Place 12 months warranty on this Bach trumpet - no problem whatsoever. And the price? .... you would expect to pay over $3000 AUD for this horn new - and not be anywhere near as impressed with a new Bach 43 as you would with this one. For $1950 buy it now you just simply cannot go wrong! Test play or just buy it before someone else does! - The Music Place South Melbourne store.

[SOLD] Bach 180-37S - serial number #438XXX

Bach 180-37S custom hand engraved. Wow! this is a really special trumpet - exquisitely and extensively hand engraved in USA by a very old and famous master engraver. Check the pictures - even then, they don't even do complete justice to the artwork. This is a model 37 bell with standard lead pipe. Serial number #438XXX is a 1995 made horn - desirable year of manufacture. The valves have excellent compression, slides are smooth and free. We have also added mother of pearl valve caps which can be changed back to standard easily if required. This trumpet plays really, really well and slots great. It has a slightly darker sound than most 37S's - a really nice tone but at higher volumes and in the higher end has a really nice core to the sound. A really versatile horn that is very collectable and beautiful to look at and play. This is a real work of art and is a horn that you would treasure for a lifetime.

[SOLD] Bach 180-37S - serial number #505XXX

Bach 180-37S - Silver plated Stradivarius in superb condition. Serial number 505XXX places this in the really desirable year of early 1999 manufacture (before the acquisition of UMI). This Strad plays absolutely beautifully as you would expect of a horn in almost mint condition. Silver plate is 99.9% (dare I say 100%) intact, the slides are free, smooth and easy and the valves have excellent compression. There are a few very minor pings on the bell near the rim - virtually un-noticable. There are also a few very minor scratches which you probably won't be able to see in the pics because they are so small. There is no evidence of any repair work and I am sure that this trumpet has not seen a lot of playing at all. The deluxe Bach case is in almost perfect condition except for a slight "cut" mark on the second handle. This has been repaired and should not be any concern. Overall, this is a really fantastic instrument. We would be happy to 24ct gold plate the valve caps and tops at no extra cost to make this into a very special looking Strad if required (normally $300 extra)

Bach Strad 180-37S in amazing condition. Amazing hand engraving to 70% of bell section. The engraving is incredibly fine, artistic and extensive - undertaken by another master engraver in New York. This is a #580XXX - late 2002 pre-strike Bach Strad that looks amazing and plays really easily and has all of the things that Bach is famous for - versatile, reliable and benchmarking workhorse. But, this one looks like a beautiful and unique musical instrument treasure. If you are an advancing student or pro player - you can't go past this one!

[SOLD] Bach 37G Gold brass bell

Bach 37G Gold brass bell - silver plated #632XXX which dates around late 2004 manufacture. This horn plays really smoothly. Being a gold brass bell model, it has a slightly darker, warmer sound than a standard Strad. If you mainly playing orchestral work, then this trumpet could well be for you. Valves and slides are near new and compression is perfect. There are minor marks on the bell - it looks like the bell has had repair work done however the work has been completed very well. There are no major dents or anything that would be of concern for the long life of this trumpet. If you have any questions please feel free to - of course you get our 12 month warranty included at no extra charge!
