One of the world's foremost saxophonists and educators, George Garzone (USA) at The Music Place South Melbourne recently.
James Morrison was recently having his trumpet slides eased and realigned by Ashley Jackman - our head technician. He had some spare time betwen rehearsals and a major Melbourne concert. So, what does Australia's most famous musical export do while his horn is being worked on? play a whole bunch of horns at The Music Place of course.
James and David Temby talked and talked about their own instrument designing projects and then ...... James made the fatal mistake of asking if we had any weird instruments (apart from our Eb soprano flugelhorn). Mmmmm ... when our workshop guys get a free moment away from repairing and servicing instruments, they love messing around ... not only creating design enhancements that really work well, but also putting bits of "beyond repair" instruments together in all sorts of ridiculous combinations ... like this crazy piece of trombone meets trumpet ... and of course James is the only one in history who could make this crazy thing sound like a real instrument. You just never know what this "meeting" may have inspired for the future ......
