Malbec reeds are Gonzalez’s latest release in saxophone reeds. Based on the well-known Jazz Local 627, they share their basic characteristics: their sound is of excellent clarity and projection, as well as being brighter than that of the Classic reeds. This makes them ideal for North American-style Jazz.
Although the approach to sound is the same as in Local 627, Malbec has a Filed cut, which gives them extra flexibility, something that the musician will notice immediately in the mouth.
