Repairs Crash Course

 

 

In April we will be running our popular hands-on instrument repair workshop. Ideal for band directors and teachers that require a good knowledge to trouble shoot student instruments or anyone with an interest in brass and woodwind repairs. All participants will receive a basic repair kit.

Places are very limited in these hands-on sessions so book early to avoid disappointment.

 

Saturday 13th April 9:45am - 4pm   $395 (includes a repair kit RRP$169)
This 6 hour session will be a solid introduction to the basics of brass and woodwind repair with a focus on diagnosing problems and basic common repair tasks. Topics covered will include: correct handling, tenon/neck cork replacement, best practice cleaning and how to lubricate keywork, clarinet crows foot adjustment, stuck mouthpieces, reeds, water key corks, rotor stringing, key timing, replacing a pad, diagnosing keys not returning, soldering.

Please note these are hands on sessions that will involve sharp tools and heat sources. Appropriate clothing and footwear must be worn. Appropriate safety equipment will be provided. Further details will be provided after booking.

A basic repair kit will be included with each booking. This will contain the essentials to do the tasks we go through. You can upgrade to a deluxe kit for and additional $199. This will include more tools and parts and be a great asset.
